Rubberseal Black is a water-based, low-VOC, cold-applied liquid rubber that cures into a seamless, highly flexible waterproof membrane. Developed from the commercial waterproofing systems contractors use on foundations, roofs, and industrial structures — and packaged for homeowners, DIYers, and pros — it is our strongest, true-waterproofing product, made for surfaces in continuous contact with water.
Where to use: Roofs (including RV and mobile-home roofs), foundations and basements, ponds, fountains, and concrete planters, gutters and drainage, marine and plywood applications, and general waterproofing over concrete, masonry, metal, and wood. Choose Rubberseal Black wherever water will stand, pool, or collect.
Coverage: about 32 sq ft per gallon at 40 mils. Build to at least 60 mils dry film where water will stand (waterproofing), and at least 30 mils for damp-proofing.

Easy to see missed spots
Rolled this onto a light concrete foundation wall. The contrast made thin areas obvious, so inspecting between coats was simple. It is much heavier than paint, but that was expected for the job.

A brush saved the corners
Roller was perfect for the field, useless in deep corners. A stiff brush handled those areas and blended them into the rolled section. Having both tools ready prevented a frantic hardware-store trip.

Good for a weird little fountain
The basin has curves, steps, and one inexplicable decorative ridge. Rolling and brushing a liquid membrane was far easier than trying to line it. The black also makes the water look deeper.

Cleanup window is short
Washed the roller and brush immediately and they survived. Forgot a small scraper until the following morning; that one is now permanently rubberized. Clean as you go.

The first pass looked solid black immediately, which tempted me to call it finished. Checking my usage showed it was too thin. Applied the planned amount and ended up with a much more convincing membrane.

One person poured and spread while the other cut in edges. We covered the drainage structure efficiently and avoided stopping in the middle of a section. Definitely easier than doing it solo.
